Until the advent of the computer driven embossers,Braille was produced
manually or by embossing from a metal printing plate. As a result of
natural wear and tear, storage and transport, new copies must be obtained
at intervals , since the original plates no longer exist, reprinting the
material relies on manual copying. This is time consuming, labour
intensive and drain on limited resources, which results in material being
withdrawn from service. The aim of this paper is to describe a automatic
Braille translation system to store and recognize the Braille pages.
