　 Abstract:
　     This paper discusses the noise responses of several halftoning methods including clustered dot screening, dispersed dot screening, stochastic screening, and error diffusion. Specifically, we will compare the halftone images generated from the uniform inputs and those produced with additive noise. The noise responses will be studied with both simulation examples and theoretical analysis.
