  Abstract:

As the technology of non-impact inkjet printing advances and extends into an ever broad applications, the development of inkjet receiving media with decent performance on variety of printers becomes a unique challenge for chemists and materials scientists. Profound understanding of materials chemistry, structure-property relationships, molecular interactions between ink and media components is needed to optimize the multiple performances that end users require. This paper will give an overview on the most common inkjet media that are commercially available. Discussion, thereafter, will be emphasized on the structure-property relationships of receiving media and ink-media interactions. Various factors that influence print quality, printability, product stability and durability are addressed in detail.
