  Abstract:

The Tao of mankind is change!   This paper will show the present stage and future growth andevelopment of Digital Printing (by our definition: duplex 30p/min.in full process color -Xeikon, Xerox, indigo) and Digital Imaging>  (anything below the speed of Dig. Prtg.) - altogether a  $ 5 billion business for media alone.
Digital Printing today constitutes approx. 10 % of short run printing and will expand to 17 % over the next 3 years offering great opportunities for specialized and customized printing application such as identification- and security systems (smart cards etc.), presentation transparencies, membrane switch graphics, control panels, durable labels, tags, badges, nameplates and so on.
Digital Imaging today is already a diversified market of electrostatic-, inkjet-, dyesub- and TWT-technologies. This paper will present the tendencies of the coming years, broken down into  (super-)wide format, narrow format (business, SOHO) as well as the use of media in those segments.
