  Abstract:
Toner adhesion forces of toner particles were measured by centrifugal method.  Several kinds of toners with irregular, quasispherical and spherical shapes were used, and their adhesion forces on the aluminum substrates, ferrite carriers, and photoreceptors were investigated as functions of particle size, toner charge q/m, additives etc.  The toner adhesion forces distributed from E-10 to E-6 N and increased with increases in toner size and toner charge for all the specimens. When the toner charge q/m was same, the adhesion force of the irregular toner particles was larger than that of the spherical particles.  Contribution of electrostatic and van der Waals forces to the toner adhesion will be discussed.
