ONE DAY'S TOUR - STONE FOREST
AND PARK OF EXPO'98

May 20-24, 2001
Kunming, China

    The ICISH'01 Secretariat will organize a short tour to Stone Forest for participants and accompanying persons to enable them to experience more of China.

Stone Forest, 80 miles away from Kunming, is a world famous Karst formation characterized by countless peculiar stone peaks and rock pillars assuming a thousand different shapes, all fanciful and fascinating. Walking through, you will be greatly attracted by its sublimity and grandeur. Over an area of 200 acres, there are towering pinnacles of limestone as high as a six-story building. These were created by water flows when the region was submerged 270 million years ago. Together with the Yangtze Gorges and Guilin, the Stone Forest near Kunming is considered to be one of China's most remarkable natural phenomen

After visiting the Stone Forest, the Park of EXPO'98 will be next sight seeing.
