Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan
province, is located in the southern highlands of China,
about 400 miles northwest of Hanoi, Vietnam. It is one of
the major historical and cultural centers of China, renowned
for its perennially pleasant weather, intriguing highland
scenery, and venerated history. Kunming City covers an area of 15,561 km2 with a
population of 3.7 million. Since it stands at an altitude of
1895 meters, it has an annual average temperature of 15.3
Celsius and is known as the “City of Eternal Spring”.
There are some very nice tourist cities near Kunming, such
as Dali and ancient Lijiang. Kunming enjoys convenient
transportation and communication facilities also. Its
highways connect with those of Burma, Laos, and Vietnam. It
has more than 50 regular international and domestic flights
to Hong Kong and Macao and major cities in China as well as
international cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Rangoon,
Vientiane, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Singapore. IDD
